Valentine’s Variety Box
We did our first official variety box as an official home bakery this past weekend for Valentine’s Day! When we were coming up with what flavors we wanted to do, we wanted to give folks the classics that they look forward to as well as some fun, new flavors to mix it up. Thus, our Valentine’s variety pack was born!
The first flavor we knew had to be included was a spin on chocolate covered strawberries. This is the staple for most Valentine’s Day gifts making it a must for our box. We took a dark chocolate ganache and wrapped it around a fresh strawberry jam that is drool-worthy. Seriously, we could eat it on anything. It gives you something to cut through that rich ganache.
For our next flavor, we wanted something bold and bright - and what better way to do that than to add some booze, right? Don’t worry though, the raspberry champagne macs are still recommended for all ages since we cook the champagne with some fresh raspberries to reduce out the alcohol content. Then we add the awesome sauce to our traditional buttercream base and voilà, you can toast with your sweetheart over these cute cookies.
The third flavor in our box takes us back to the more traditional side of V-Day with some decadent red velvet cake. We start with baking a red velvet cake from scratch (of course taste-testing it for quality control) then mixing up our favorite cream cheese frosting. For the actual macaron filling, we decided to go with a cake pop-like filling so that every bite would be a perfect amount of frosting and cake.
Our final flavor in this month’s variety box (and my personal favorite) was a blood orange mac. Something bright, fruity, and fun to give our customers a new favorite tradition for Valentine’s Day. Fresh zest goes a long way, so we took our vanilla buttercream and infused some blood orange zest into it for an extra punch of orangey-goodness. In the center of that buttercream, we dropped this amazing blood orange curd that coated your mouth with citrus to perfectly compliment the buttercream.
