March 2021 Variety Box

March is the perfect month for all things green. We’re getting closer to spring and warmer weather, so why not celebrate with some bright colors? Those were our thoughts for this box, and boy did we nail it. The bright greens and pink really make you ready for spring to be sprung. We wanted our flavors to match that energy as well. Eventually, we decided on some nice floral notes, fresh fruit, and some seasonal classic flavor combinations in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.

Our first flavor in the March variety box was an ode to our time in Japan in the spring of 2019. Cherry blossom season is something that can’t be captured with photos and we were fortunate enough to experience it in person! Everywhere we went had a food special with sakura (cherry blossom) flavors. We wanted to capture that bright floral flavor and this cookie took me right back to Tokyo. With the assistance of cherry blossom infused white bean paste from Japan, we made a buttercream that was perfectly balanced. Hopefully in the near future we get the opportunity to travel back to Japan, but until then I will indulge myself with these macs.

Our second flavor was a more traditional nod to St. Patrick’s Day and our first thought was a Shamrock Shake from McDonald’s. The lovely combination of mint and vanilla are something that we always associate with this time of the year. To achieve this filling, we whipped up a buttercream with vanilla bean paste and then chopped fresh mint leaves for a fresh pop of flavor. After adding a few drops to get that green color we all look for, it was ready to go!

The next flavor in this variety pack was something new that we had been wanting to try. Our spiced pear with cinnamon buttercream turned out so good, that we added it to our flavor list permanently. The fresh bite from the pear and the spices are enough to lure in any apple pie lover. We simply made a pear compote with warm spices (think cinnamon, cardamom, all spice) and wrapped it up with a light cinnamon buttercream to relieve some of those strong flavors.

After all of these floral and fruity flavors, we wanted to round out this variety box with something a little sweeter. One of the fan favorites on our flavor list just happened to be the perfect match. Our fourth flavor we chose was white chocolate pistachio. Perfectly sweet and nutty as well as fitting in with our green spring theme. We started with making a lovely white chocolate ganache and then mixed in some pistachio paste to get the balance just right.

Great news! We have decided to expand on our monthly boxes and include some more variety in our delicious treats. We can’t wait to share what we have in store for April’s treat boxes :)
