First Birthday Tea Party Set

The sweetest first birthday set you will ever see.

We love when customers come to us with ideas and let us run with it to make their dessert dreams come true. New challenges, new adorable decorations, new dessert sets to share with you guys! This set was for a sweet girl’s first birthday and the theme was tea party. Seriously, how cute is that? Such a party called for classy and clean desserts with tons of pearls, rose gold, and floral cupcakes to match. Our colors were baby blue, pink, pale yellow, and a pastel sage green.

This set came with several challenges: our first attempt at a letter cake, a super clean finish on a smash cake, and working with fresh flowers. We somehow managed to pull it off and couldn’t be happier with the results.

The main attraction for this set was definitely the letter cake. Our customer wanted macarons, fresh flowers, pearls, theme colors, and chocolate decorations to top this beautiful “E”. Using our vanilla cake in a sheet pan, we bought some 12” letter stencils to cut out the letter outline. After cleaning up our “E”’s, we did dollops of vanilla buttercream and added some fresh berries between the layers to cut through the sweetness. We made sure to add our cake soak to these to keep them from drying out and stacked our top letter before repeating the dollop process.

Then came the fun part: decorating! Getting fresh flowers from our local Kroger in our theme colors, we placed those around the letter to start. Adding in some rose gold chocolate strawberries, our macarons, chocolate work, and some candy pearls, and there you have it. An elaborate decorated letter cake. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I added or removed things in this process. It was honestly very ending until I was happy with it. However, for this being our first one, I am very proud of this one.

There were quite a few cake parts of this order, including some colorful artisan floral cupcakes. Vanilla cupcakes filled with cookies and cream in some and our homemade strawberry jam in the others. Filled cupcakes are such a nice way to add some flavor without going overboard. Kyle does most of our floral cupcakes on his own because he is fantastic at it, but sometimes I get to help out when we have this much going on in a week. The customer requested the larger floral designs, but after seeing our tri-rose on another order she added that one to this mix as well. If you’ve seen a flower design not listed on our website that you like, please share it with us! We are always willing to try new designs.

No dessert set is complete without adding some of our macarons to it. Macarons are the perfect bite-sized addition packing a ton of flavor. Custom colors to match our theme and six flavors for three dozen. The flavors our customer chose were cookies and cream, strawberry, raspberry, lemon blueberry, birthday cake, and salted caramel.

Lastly, we got to make the fanciest little smash cake anyone has ever seen. Complete with pearl strands and a rose gold beaded decor, this smash cake was a 3 layered 6”. We went with our classic vanilla stack cake and added some of our strawberry jam between the layers for some more flavor. It’s always nerve wracking when you have to have a basically naked cake because there is so much emphasis on the finish and nothing to hide behind. The color turned out so well to match the cupcakes.

That’s a wrap for this dessert set. Check out more photos below and keep your eyes on our blog for more to come!
