Boho Baby Shower

Oh baby!

Have we ever mentioned how much we love when people give us a request for an entire dessert set? If not, it is our favorite. A chance to showcase our entire menu in one cohesive set of sweets. It is always satisfying to complete something to this scale and see it all together for final photos. With only the request for pink and a love of our succulent designs, we started planning out this set to cover all of the bases.

The easiest starting point had to be with a set of cupcakes. Hitting the basic flavors, we chose to go with chocolate and strawberry. Our chocolate cupcake is probably my favorite, but I am partial to chocolate in general with desserts. After settling on our flavor choices, next was picking our design options. To keep with the clean boho theme of the baby shower, we chose to go with white bases on these succulents as opposed to the “sand” base that we usually use in our designs. With pink for the accent, we settled on some big barrel cactus, baby cacti, jade gollums, and a succulent design featuring a bright pink desert rose. A cute, neutral set for a cute baby girl’s shower. To finish the set, we chose to do a simple white rosette with seriously adorable cactus sprinkles. Check the shots below to catch those sprinkles.

Next on the list, of course our macarons. The original dessert item that we offered here at Salty Cat. These are perfect for parties for several reasons. All the flavor options and portability makes them a hit for adults and kids alike. We wanted to offer a little bit of everything with our flavor choices, so we settled on some fruity and some sweet to go with the classic flavors in the other desserts. Lemon Blueberry and Raspberry are some of our most popular flavors and give a fruity twist to the dessert board. To balance out with a sweet option, we chose to go with our Salted Caramel filling for the third flavor.

Another addition to this variety set included some cakesicles. You can catch pictures of them in the gallery below this blog. Who could have imagined a cuter combination than those cacti and pink bows? I was hesitant at first on how the cactus cakesicles would look, but they were perfect with this dessert set and the little fondant roses make me super excited to work with fondant on future designs. These cakesicles were chocolate and strawberry to go along with the cupcakes and they were just as tasty as they looked. Plus, cakesicles are super fun options for kids at parties or events to carry around!

Our last dessert for this set was the centerpiece of it all. A three layered 6” vanilla cake with strawberry jam filling to be the item that pulled the whole set together. A clean white finish to match the cupcake bases was how I started the design on this cake. Then, I freehanded some pink roses on top with my favorite piping tip (124k) and added some barrel cacti around the crescent shape. Lastly, I filled in the open spaces with small cacti and jade gollums matching the other designs already in the set. Topping the cacti with pink and orange flowers finished off this complete set of succulent desserts.

Be on the lookout for our fall seasonal menu! We are planning to announce all of our specials the first of August.

Until next time,

-Kat & Kyle
